Medical Overuse Research and Community Science Popularization

Identified the widespread problem of medical overuse through my own experience I cooperate with classmates to investigate this problem. We navigate knowledge from psychology, calculus, chemistry, and economics. From a psychological perspective, I analyzed how authority bias may lead patients to follow doctors’ recommendations even when treatment seems unnecessary, while doctors may have different incentives when making treatment decisions. I also examined how different economic systems may influence medical overuse and used calculus to build a model of the problem.

We created an interactive web game to explain the risks of medical overuse in a fun and accessible way, helping students in my school better understand healthcare decisions and improve their health awareness.
